When it comes to being an artist, there are a lot of myths out there. Some common misconceptions about being an artist, including the idea that artists are born with natural talent, that they can’t make a living from their art, or that their work should always be original and groundbreaking. However, many successful artists have overcome these myths and found their own unique paths to success.
The biggest Myth is that to be an artist, you just have to learn to live with no money!
That is a common myth about being an artist. While it is true that many artists struggle financially, being an artist does not necessarily mean you have to live with no money. It is important to develop business skills and market yourself effectively to earn a living as an artist. It is also possible to pursue art as a hobby or passion without relying on it as a primary source of income.
Reality – You can create a healthy wage as an artist by using multiple income streams
That is true! As an artist, diversifying your income streams can help you generate more revenue and reduce financial risks. Some ways to do this include selling your artwork through multiple channels, offering commissions, teaching classes or workshops, licensing your artwork, and creating merchandise such as prints or apparel. You can also explore crowdfunding platforms to fund your projects and seek out grant opportunities.
