Never stop working towards your dreams. How I am trying to create more structure and accountability in my artistic practices.
“Don’t think about making art, just get it down” – Andy Warhol.
Recently I have been stuck at a roadblock when it comes to creating art. I am sure most artists can relate to this, but I have many ideas and concepts floating around in my head. The issue is that I am paralysed with fear that these ideas are not good enough, and my skill level isn’t good enough that I tend not to do anything at all.
My skill level has improved over the last two years, but I am still far from where I want to be as an artist. I have identified a lack of structure and accountability in my artistic practices. Instead of chasing sales and making pieces that will sell, I want to switch things up a little bit.
From now on, I will keep myself accountable by doing the following:
Posting on this blog
About nine years ago, I used to post daily on my beauty and makeup blog. I loved it. I found it so creative to take photos and sit down to write whatever I wanted. Although beauty is not my focus anymore, I want to try to do the same with this art and lifestyle blog. I want you to come here and feel inspired and learn something new each time. Some posts will be longer than others, and some will simply share my journey as an artist with you, which I tend to only share on Instagram at the moment.
Sketchbook Work
Constantly working in a sketchbook is something I have always wanted to do. I dip in and out of experimenting in my sketchbook, but I want to make a more conscious effort to paint or draw something every day.
Videos
Recently I have been posting a lot more shorts on my youtube channel, but I want to get into longer-form content.
These are the three areas which I am going to focus on from now on. I plan to create a timetable to help keep me accountable.
